This Mother’s Day bulletin board idea, courtesy of Rainbows Within Reach, displays handprint photo flowers that are easy to make and will touch Mom’s heart.

To make the bulletin board, gather:

  • Construction paper in a variety of colors
  • Tempera paint in a variety of colors
  • Photos of each child
  • Paint brushes
  • Glue

Let each child a construction paper and paint. Help each child dip a hand in the paint and press her hand onto the sheet of construction paper. Make sure the child’s hand is well spread out and pressed firmly to ensure the entire hand makes contact with the paper.

Next, have the students paint on a green stem and leaves beneath their handprint to create a flower. Allow to dry completely. Glue or tape the child’s photo to the center of the handprint. Cover the bulletin board in colorful paper and add a coordinating decorative border.  Attach each child’s flower. Add a title such as “Happy Mother’s Day” or “We Love You Mom."

You can also have the kids write a few sentences about why they love their mom, then attach it below their flower. They could also write a few sentences about any loved one, such as a grandparent, dad, or other caregiver.
