Materials

  • 1 Dish Towel
  • Fabric paint
  • Paper plate
  • Paint brush
  • Wet paper towels
  • Butcher paper or newspaper

Directions

Cover the surface with butcher paper or newspaper to protect the table. Lay the dish towel flat on the craft surface. Add fabric paint to a paper plate. Encourage the child to press one hand in the paint making sure that the entire palm is covered. Next, help the child place their hand flat on the dish towel, pressing hard so that the entire surface of the palm touches the dish towel.  Next instruct them to lift their hand straight up.

Now, immediately use a wet paper towel to wipe and remove the fabric paint. Repeat on the other hand to create a total of two handprints. Finally, use the fabric paint and paint brush to write “Mommy’s Helping Hands” or a similar sentiment along with the year on the dish towel. Allow to dry completely.
